About Our Pastor

“Pictures of a cowboy riding a bronc in the rodeo, a boy sliding into home plate in a Little League game, a family canoeing on the Peace River, and a home town church” were all on a simple piece of paper that our search committee sent to Reverend Doctor Teddy Weaver Land back in 1985 when he was entertaining the idea of uprooting his family and moving from West Virginia. Those images of a lifestyle that he so much enjoyed, along with our beautiful weather, with the added bonus of a trip to the sunshine state to meet us, where all things that he just couldn’t pass up. And all it took was one time in the pulpit and he was offered the job. Now 22 years later we are blessed to still be sharing in the life of Dr. Land.

Through his years at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Land is not only loved by all of the people that listen to him on Sunday mornings, but he is also well-known through out our little town of Arcadia. It wouldn’t be a hometown rodeo if he wasn’t leading us in the prayer (each and every time). He unselfishly gives of his times and talents through countless activities for our church family and for others around us.

He doesn’t know a stranger and would be happy to sip some tea and tell you some stories on any given day. He is so down to earth that you forget that he is an angel among us, sharing God’s word and Jesus’ actions in everything that he does. He is an inspiration and an excellent role model. We are blessed to have him amongst us and to call him our pastor.
